Called Morph, the technology is working on turning a fiber similar to spider silk into the basis for all manner of flexible, shape-shifting gear.
Morph-based handsets, besides assuming numerous forms, theoretically would clean themselves, recharge by solar energy, be transparent where that helps and much more. Nokia hopes to have handsets incorporating Morph on the market in seven years. Watch the video for more.

The most expensive, carefully designed, and complicated solar panels in the world operate at about 40% efficiency. That means that, for every bit of sunlight that hits the panel, only 40% of it is turned into electricity.
Scientists think that this is just about as good as silicon panels can do and are now looking at ways to make it cheaper, instead of making them more efficient. But suddenly, from nowhere, comes Steven Novack of the Idaho National Laboratories with an inexpensive, foldable solar panel that may turn out to be up to 80% efficient.

Japanese engineering giant Hitachi Ltd has unveiled a new lightweight robot that can converse while easily scooting around people.
The company says that, in a first for a humanoid, the robot has convertible legs which allow it to walk on two legs or roll about on either two or four wheels.

The LEED certified 22-story headquarters and laboratory buildings will be home to the center of excellence for biotechnology education and research, with two connected buildings oriented to maximize day-lighting and views while minimizing solar gain. It will also integrate a 500,000 sq ft animal reserve for indigenous conservation and wildlife protection.The design comes form design firm CUH2A, and is scheduled for completion in 2009.
